Crew rates and your own rate card
How to enter rates once instead of retyping them in every quote, separately for each currency.
A camera operator’s day rate, a gaffer’s or a camera rental rarely changes, so there is no point typing it into every quote. That is what the rate card is for.
Enter rates once
On the Cost items tab, click Edit rates. The Default rates window lists every item, grouped by category. Fill in the rates you know and leave the rest empty.
- Save keeps the rates for new quotes.
- Save and fill empty rates in this quote also puts them into the open quote straight away, wherever the rate is empty. Rates you typed by hand are left alone.
Once you are signed in, the rate card is saved to your account, so you have it on every computer.
Separately for each currency
A day rate is a different number in pounds and in euros, so there is a separate rate card for each currency. The window always shows the rate card for the currency of the open quote. When you change the quote’s currency, items taken from the rate card get the rates from the new currency’s card. Amounts typed by hand stay as they are, and nothing is converted at an exchange rate.
Rates in a single quote
The Apply default rates option above the budget decides whether the quote uses your rate card. Turn it off and the rates from the card are removed, while the ones you typed stay. You can also simply overwrite any rate in its row, and the rate card does not change.
